Sanborn Fire Insurance – 1915

This is “Le Petite Canada” in 1915. The area looks like different today since these several blocks have been torn down to make way for a larger hospital – Catholic Medical Center along with a shopping plaza. But if you stand on McGregor street (actually you’ll probably get hit by a car) on a quiet Sunday morning you can still hear the mills humming and unmistakable voices of the thousands of French Canadians that lived and worked in the area.

Where are Sainte Perpetue and Sainte Clotilde?

Among the main towns or parishes that our ancestors came from were Sainte Perpetue (Ephrem) and Sainte Clotilde (Doria) – all in Nicolet County. Sainte Monique was another parish in which our ancestors lived.
