Joseph Champagne(1855-1928)



Joseph Champagne was born on July 21, 1855 in Saint Clotilde-de-Horton, Nicolet County in Quebec, Canada, and died on April 30, 1928 in Manchester, NH. He was married three times. First to Monique Duval on October 28, 1879 in Nicolet. He then married Exilia Boucher on November 28, 1883 at Saint Leonard d'Aston. They had a son together (Joseph Champagne - 1887-1912) but Exilia died a few days after the birth. Finally, he married Delia Champagne on July 8, 1889 at Sainte Monique, Nicolet, Quebec, Canada. Delia was the daughter of Ambroise Champagne and Desanges Guevin, and was born September 15, 1860 at Sainte Monique. She passed on August 9, 1933 in Manchester,  NH.




Obituary*

The death of Joseph Champagne, 72, of 405 Dubuque street occurred Monday [30 April 1928 ] morning at the home. Mr. Champagne was born in St. Clothilde ,P.Q., and was a resident of this city for many years. Survivors are the widow; six daughters, Mrs. Hector Lacharite, of Visitation, P.Q., Mrs. Joseph Moreau, Mrs. Walter Rene, Mrs. Hormidas Rene, Mrs. Ephrem Dubé, Mrs. Emery Potvin of this city; two sisters, Mrs. Pierre Boucher of St. Clothilde, P.Q., and Mrs. Louis Champagne of Bulistroll Station, P.Q., and 32 grandchildren. Mr. Champagne was a member of the St. Francis order and of St. Mary’s Church.
